EBRPL Welcomes New Director and LBOC Members

East Baton Rouge Parish Library is pleased to announce the appointment of its new director,
Katrina Stokes. Stokes comes to Baton Rouge from the Warren County-Vicksburg Library in
Mississippi where she served as Library Director for seven years, during which she added new
collections, oversaw significant renovations, and sought to expand community understanding of
library services and resources. She is eager to lead the vision and mission of EBRPL.
Library Director Katrina Stokes shares, “I am honored to be a part of such an amazing library
system. I look forward to working with our staff in bringing much-needed services to our
community.”

In additional news, the East Baton Rouge Parish Metropolitan Council has appointed two new
members to the Library Board of Control. Councilman Darryl Hurst and Ronnie Pierce will
replace outgoing members Jason Jacob and Martha Stickle. They join newly-elected officers
Candace Temple, president; Donald Luther, Jr., vice-president; and Kathy Wascom, treasurer,
and existing members Nicole Allmon-Learson and Delores Watts.

LBOC President Candace Temple expressed her dedication to EBRPL. “We are blessed to have
such a great Library system, recognized in the U.S. as a Star Library. It is exciting to now
serve as the Library Board President as I approach seven years of service on the Board! I look
forward to continuing to help ensure that the mission, vision, and strategic plan are
accomplished. Lastly, I encourage everyone to visit your local library and use all the resources
available.”
