Zachary Farmer's Market Finds

Nov 17, 2023 12:39PM ● By Lauren Pope

Vendors from all across the area come to Hug Your People Park in Zachary to sell goods, socialize, and educate the community about the benefits of buying local. We spoke with many of the vendors and learned a bit about their shops and what motivated them to become artisans.

Here are just a few of the great shops you’ll find every Saturday at the market. There are so many great vendors that it will take a few weeks to highlight them all, so stay tuned next week for more great stands.

In case you missed the first week's feature, read it here!

Howland’s Honey and Bee Removal

There’s nothing like fresh, raw honey. Alan Howland is a volunteer firefighter in East Feliciana, and he’s been kept pretty busy over the past few months with all of the wildfires that we’ve had in Louisiana. Thankfully, they haven’t kept him from tending to his many beehives or from harvesting this delicious honey. In addition to bringing honey to the market, he’s also available to remove bees that have found a home in your siding or fencing. If you need him to get the buzzzzing out of your yard, call 225-937-4245. Check out Howland's Honey on Facebook

Glaze and Graphite

Looking for a memorable gift? The Glaze and Graphite stand, a father daughter duo, offers custom pencil portraits and tasty baked goods. If you’re interested in having a professional portrait made of a loved one, simply bring a photo by the stand or contact the owners at Glaze and Graphite’s Facebook page.

This n That

(Deplorable Concealment, Triple S Salsa, Home Decor)

At the This-n-That stand you’ll find award winning salsa and custom furniture. This furniture isn’t just any furniture though, it’s specially designed to allow you to conceal things that you’d like easy access to but…might not want in public view. They have everything from coat racks to console tables, all hiding just a little extra. One thing you won’t want to conceal though is their famous salsa. It is just begging to be shared. The recipe was developed by the Sullivan’s 19-year-old son, and it comes in both spicy and mild. There’s also a cowboy caviar that goes great on anything.  You can also find them online at their Facebook page.

The Baby Bison Boutique

This stand started as a place to buy homemade scrub caps, but it has expanded into so much more! Now you’ll find everything from boutique quality children’s items to gorgeous handmade baby blankets. The owner of the Boutique, Sarah, is an expert seamstress with over 45 years of sewing experience, and it shows in the details of her creations.

The Zachary Farmers & Artisans Market is held every Saturday from 9am-1pm at Hug Your People Park located at 4412 Lee Street in downtown Zachary. Follow Zachary Farmers and Artisans Market on Facebook for special events. Every Thursday, vendor lists for the weekend are posted to Facebook.
