Black History Month: In the Scottlight

Three Zachary High School Alums shine brightly on the football and track field and they just so happen to share a last name! 

Lindsey Scott Jr.: Quarterback/Houston Roughnecks 

Sports played at ZHS: Football 

Achievements/awards during (and after) high school: Scott was the District 4-5A Offensive MVP twice (2014 and 2015), All-Metro Offensive twice, 5A State Offensive MVP twice, 2015 Louisiana Mr. Football, 2015 Gatorade Player of the year and MVP of the 5A State Championship game

Former LSU Quarterback (2016), East Mississippi State (2017), Nicholls (2019-2021), Incarnate World (2022)

Scott was selected by the Houston Roughnecks in the 2023 XFL Rookie Draft on June 16, 2023. He was signed on October 24, 2023.

After a record-breaking 2022 season, UIW quarterback Lindsey Scott, Jr., was announced as the winner of the Walter Payton Award as the FCS outstanding offensive player at the annual FCS awards banquet.

Leonard Scott: Gold Medalist in Track 

Sports played at ZHS: Track and Football 

Achievements/awards during (and after) high school: Leonard was a 2 time LHSAA State Champion in the 100-M dash (1997 & 1998), a State Champion in the 200 in 1998 and the Louisiana Track Gatorade Athlete of the Year in 1998. 

#1 ZHS Record Holder: TOP Overall Time per Track & Field News in the 100-Meters running 10.34

He signed a scholarship with the University of Tennessee to run track and play football until turning pro in track in 2002. In 2006 Leonard won Gold in Moscow at the World Indoor Championship, running 6.50 in 60 meters.

Currently: Sergeant with the Jersey Village Police Department in the Houston Texas area

Boston Scott: Running Back/ Philadelphia Eagles 

Sports played at ZHS: Football & Weightlifting

Achievements/awards at ZHS: Leading rusher in football earning local and state honors. He was also a ZHS Weightlifting State Champion. 

Played college football at Louisiana Tech. 

Briefly played with the New Orleans Saints.

In July of 2023, hosted Boston Scott Football Camp at Bronco Stadium.

Known as the "Giant Killer" due to his three-touchdown performance with the Eagles against the New York Giants. Played with the Eagles in Super Bowl XLVII in 2023.
