How did you choose the destination?
We have been hearing about Fredericksburg as an up-and-coming popular destination. It was my husband Michael’s idea to go as a group for a couple's trip. We planned the trip ourselves, so there was a lot of research involved online and asking people who have been there. We had a lot of free time in the schedule for shopping and exploring with friends. We scheduled one winery day with a private tour and reservations at a restaurant for our final night after a hiking reservation that morning. We chose to stay in an Airbnb, because of our group size and it was perfect for what we were looking for.
Exceeding Expectations
The whole trip surprised us all at how amazing it was. It's such a pleasant town with tons of charm on Main Street. The wineries, breweries, and distilleries were amazing. Hiking Enchanted Rock was more challenging than expected, but rewarding once we made it to the top.
Must-see destinations: Enchanted Rock State Natural Area (hiking), Grape Creek Vinyard, Fiesta Winery, Safari Winery, Fast Ass Brewery, Wildseed Farms, Altstadt Brewery, Elk Store Distillery, White Elephant Saloon, Pontotoc Vinyard, Rathskeller Restaurant (German cuisine), Hondo’s On Main, Auslander Restaurant, Velvet Lounge, Cabernet Grill Restaurant, and tons of shopping on Main Street.

Words of Wisdom
If traveling in a large group, make reservations in advance like we did. Several places were sold out by the time we got there. Also, some of the town venues (wineries and restaurants) prefer smaller groups, so parties larger than six may be split into smaller groups or require a reservation.
Overall, it was a great couple or friends' getaway! Scenic views, shopping, great atmosphere, wineries, breweries, distilleries, hiking and more! It is very pet-friendly too. Fredericksburg has it all for a short getaway.
