EmployBR is Connecting Employees and Business Owners

Apr 17, 2024 10:29AM ● By Lauren Pope

Maybe you saw this recent job listing from Street Food Munchies and thought "Huh? Why does it have such specific requirements?" We were curious too so we reached out to the owner Lataoya Jett who explained "EmployBR is a program funded by the Louisiana Workforce Commission or the federal government to employ teens and young adults with on-the-job training, job skills, and development but it's for low income familiesm . They need job sites that will open up to house the applicants. I'm one of the work sites that doesn't mind helping."

We reached out to Employ BR Program Administrator Girlie Anderson who explained a bit more about the details of the program. "EmployBR is more than just a program; it's a community-driven initiative committed to empowering our youth and fostering economic growth. By bridging the gap between local businesses and talented individuals from low-income families, we create a win-win situation for everyone involved"

How does it create a win-win situation? Many ways!

There are several benefits for individuals who participate in Employ BR:

  • On-the-Job Training: Participants gain hands-on experience and develop valuable skills in a real work environment.
  • Skill Development: The program offers opportunities for personal and professional growth, enhancing their employability in the long run.
  • Stipend and Support Services: Participants may receive a stipend during their training period and have access to support services to assist them throughout the program.
