Meet Author Max Miller to Get a Taste of History

Have you ever wondered what pioneers ate on the Oregon Trail or what a Shogun ate in feudal Japan? Max Miller has. His popular tasting history youtube channel soon grew into a website and a cookbook. He cookbook was chosen as EBRPL's One Book One Community choice for 2024, and on April 20 at 10AM Max Miller is coming to the Main Branch Library to discuss his book, Tasting History, followed by a Q&A and book signing.
The event will be a "an engaging conversation with Miller in the style of a moderated interview. He will talk about both his work and his book, and questions from audience members are encouraged! Copies of Tasting History will be available for purchase, and Max Miller will hold a book signing to conclude the event."
EBRPL hosts a series of both in-person and virtual author talks throughout the year and is in the 18th year of the One Book One Community program. The program's goal is to get the community reading and talking about a specific book to help bring people together. However, we won't judge you if you haven't read the book yet (although we encourage you to pick up a copy at the Zachary Branch!). Miller's a natural storyteller with a particular gift for explaining detailed history in a way that keeps the audience engaged.
So regardless of if you're a history nerd, book nerd, or cookbook aficionado, this event was made for you. Or maybe you just want to meet a cool, famous author. Again, no judgement from us.
However, if you'd like to judge us a little, just know that we made Max's Irish Stew on St. Patrick's Day and the results, while quite tasty, were definitely not picture perfect. We swiped one of Max's professional pictures from his book for that main image. Maybe we can thank him for it on Saturday!
