Miracle on Two Feet: Dr. Lindow Helps Patient Walk Upright Again After 20 Years of Pain

It was Divine Intervention. Dr. Lindow gave me my life back.

Sherry Hendricks is no stranger to podiatrists. In 1999 she fell 18 feet from a tree and badly broke both feet and dislocated her ankle. Every ligament was torn. She was lucky to survive and almost lost her leg. Over the course of the next twenty years, she saw just about every orthopedic doctor in the capital area.

Those doctors offered half-solutions that left Sherry with painful ulcers and unable to walk without a walker. Then she met Dr. Kyle Lindow. "He told me, Sherry, you tell me what you want the rest of your life to look like." Sherry immediately knew the answer: she wanted to be able to walk and play with her grandchildren.

Dr. Lindow went to work. His first step was to treat her ulcers. He set about aggressively treating them and healing the skin, an important step because for diabetics like Sherry, those ulcers can lead to serious complications. Next, he referred her to a colleague who had an innovative technique to manage her sciatic nerve pain.

Sherry was hesitant because she'd had poor experiences with bracing in the past, but she trusted Dr. Lindow's referral, and it paid off. She was beginning to stand more upright. The last piece of the puzzle was managing her neuropathy. Although she couldn't feel her feet, exactly, she could feel constant pain emanating from them.  "Other doctors just tried to cover up the pain with pain pills, but I don't like taking them all the time because of how they make me feel," Sherry explained.

Dr. Lindow offered a real solution: a complicated surgery to clean up the things that had healed badly so long ago. "I came into Dr. Lindow's office wearing slippers and hunched over a walker, and now I can wear shoes and walk standing up. He gave me my life back."

Now, with her first grandchild due in September, Sherry has something that she lost so long ago: hope. "God put him in my life. I would recommend Dr. Lindow to anyone for anything. Is there a prize he can be nominated for? I nominate him!" laughs Sherry. Thanks to Dr. Lindow, she can now envision holding her grandchild's hand as they walk through the backyard.
