Zachary's Open Door Fellowship Rises Again: Triumphant Return After 2023 Roof Collapse

Aug 16, 2024 03:01PM ● By Lauren Pope
In April of 2023, the roof of Open Door Fellowship in Zachary collapsed.  Thankfully, no one was in the building at the time, but the destruction was enormous. Speaking to WFAB at the time of the collapse, Apostle Banks said “Even in the midst of our loss, in the midst of our tragedy, the devastation, He’s (God) going to see us through it.”

Now, that faithfulness has been realized. This past Sunday, the first services were held in Zachary since the collapse. Mayor McDavid was on hand for the ribbon cutting, saying "I was honored to be invited to speak at Open Door Fellowship after their roof collapsed in April 23, 2023. All things are possible with God."

Congresswoman Boyd also spoke at the ceremony. "My family and I had the absolute honor to attend the Celebration of Victory Renewal Services at Open Door Fellowship Life Center this past Sunday. It was a joy to witness such gratitude, such faith, such gladness in our Lord for all He has done! Apostle Leroy Banks gave an uplifting, inspiring and transformative message. My heart was touched at such humbleness and grace! Sister Carolyn West gave all glory to God with her beautiful voice. It was a Sunday to rejoice for sure! I am so grateful to have been a part of this and pray many blessings for Open Door! "

Repairs were performed by Mitchell Wood with ArchitectniX/Century Building Services.
