Mrs. Lanier, ZHS Support Employee of the Year 2023
Our beloved, wife and mother, Kyna "Marcine" Lanier suddenly left us on September 1, 2024. Marcine, a resident of Zachary, and native of Baton Rouge, was both an educator and dedicated travel agent. She is survived by her husband, Jody Lanier of 34 years; daughter Katelyn Lanier and fiancé Jacob McKenzie; son Trevor Lanier and fiancée Katelyn Fuselier; and mother-in-law Audrey Lanier, who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Maxine Lay; father-in-law David Lanier and both Franklin and Lay grandparents. She was a 1974 graduate of Tara High School. She later graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Harding University. There was no bigger fan of Zachary High Broncos and LSU tigers than Mrs.Lanier herself. Her kind spirit, joyous laugh, and contagious smile will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held at Charlet Funeral Home on Sunday, September 8,2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and Monday, September 9, 2024 from 9:00 am until service at 11:00 am. Kodi Brown:
I loved Mrs. Marcine Lanier and she showed love to me and both of my boys.
She cared about me and was one of the most kindest people I have ever worked with in my life. I know she loved her kids and her family and she loved ZHS. She was always helping someone else. She definitely will be missed by so many but will live on in our memories. Her talks, smiles, and kindness will be remembered by me and anyone who will listen to how good of a person she was to me. I will end it here…. Take the trip. Bring your kids with you. Enjoy! These are the things she shared with me. I will cherish our conversations forever

Marcine Lanier was one of the kindest people I knew. I appreciate her kindness when I was new to ZHS. She checked on me often to make sure I was OK. She counseled me as I was struggling being a widow. We shared our love for shopping and she always knew when the sales were. She shared her love with my family. She was there for me when my mother was very sick. She was there for me when I lost my dad. I was blessed to have shared many talks, laughs, hugs, and a few tears with this wonderful lady. I’ll never forget our boat ride and all the laughs we had that day. She will forever be missed.
ZHS will continue to honor Mrs. Lanier all week with "Love Like Lanier."
Our sincere condolences go out to all of Mrs. Lanier's students, co-workers, friends, and family.
