Starting October 1, 2024, East Baton Rouge Parish Library patrons will have an exciting new way to discover Louisiana's rich natural heritage and history - for free! The library is participating in the "Check Out Louisiana State Parks" pilot program, allowing cardholders to borrow a state park pass and an adventure-ready backpack.
With your library card, you can check out a Geaux Explore backpack containing:
- A free one-day entry pass to any Louisiana state park or historic site
- Binoculars, compass, and magnifying glass
- Guidebooks for Louisiana birds, wildlife, trees, and wildflowers
- "Leave No Trace" outdoor ethics cards
This program opens up a world of possibilities for nature enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking to explore the state's diverse landscapes and historical sites.
