Zachary Pet Supply was started by Ron, a Louisiana State Trooper who moved to Louisiana from NYC about 9 years ago. In 2021, he was transferred to Baton Rouge and discovered the Zachary community. "I live in Zachary and have been so encouraged by how supportive the Mayor, Chief of Police, and City Council have been. I named the shop 'Zachary Pet Supply' because of that."

When you come to the shop, you're likely to see Bruce, Ron's goldendoodle. Bruce taste tests most of the dog products because Ron only keeps food in the shop that he'd personally feed his dog. That said, if customers recommend a product that meets his high standards, he's happy to bring it in.

That's how he discovered the parrot feed that he keeps in stock. "I have a customer who has 50 exotic birds, and he recommended this brand of feed. He's the expert!"
