Harvey Honore & Co. is now in the heart of construction on the much-anticipated Gerry Lane Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Dealership, sitting on 19 acres at the corner of Highways 61 and 64.
The dealership, set to open in March 2025, will sell new and used inventory and offer automotive services for all makes and models through its 30 air-conditioned service bays.
When the proposal was approved by City Council in December 2023, Mayor David McDavid expressed optimism over the economic boon to the western side of town. “It’s going to supply more jobs here in Zachary with the dealership and also with the maintenance building there. I think it’s going to be a plus, a win for Zachary,” said McDavid.
Harvey Honore & Co. President Aaron Honore echoes that sentiment, not just from a jobs perspective, but also what a win for Zachary it is to have Gerry Lane dealership in town. “The Lanes have been around for decades and are huge supporters of all the communities they’re in,” Honore says.
This is the latest of many collaborations over the years between Gerry Lane and Harvey Honore & Co., both longtime Baton Rouge family businesses now in their third generations. Gerry Lane recently acquired the Clark Crain dealership in St. Francisville, and Honore & Co. recently completed the new adoration chapel at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church here in Zachary. Harvey Honore & Co. also completed extensive general construction projects at Zachary High School; not only were they the ones to construct the iconic columns in front of the high school, but they also completed the original artificial turf track and football field in the Bronco Corral.
The construction of the dealership broke ground earlier this year, with Harvey Honore & Co. leading the site preparation, foundation work, and initial structural steel framing. The dealership is approximately 30% complete as of the latest update. With the foundation laid and structural components in place, the next phases include enclosing the building’s exterior, installing utilities, and working on the interior spaces.
The building itself is approximately 35,000 square feet, Honore says, with 300,000 square feet of parking lot–enough for a fleet of 300 vehicles at any time.
Known for their ability to manage complex projects for some of the largest industries in the area, Harvey Honore & Co. has built a reputation for delivering high-quality commercial builds across Greater Baton Rouge. The Gerry Lane dealership is no exception. Honore’s track record of completing projects on time and within budget, combined with their commitment to precision and safety, is ensuring the success of this exciting project.
“We’re proud of the progress we’ve made so far, and we’re excited to see the dealership come together over the next several months,” Honore said.
