TSA and OMV to Remind Travelers of Deadline to be REAL ID Ready

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) will hold a press conference on the importance of Louisiana residents becoming REAL ID ready. Beginning May 7, 2025, residents must present a REAL ID or other federally acceptable document to the TSA when flying.
REAL ID Requirements:
- Look for a star in the upper right corner of your Louisiana driver's license
- Without a REAL ID-compliant license, travelers will need alternative approved identification (such as a passport)
- Standard credentials without the star will not be valid for:
- Boarding flights
- Accessing secure federal facilities
- Entering military bases
- Visiting some federal offices
How to Get a REAL ID:
- Visit a Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles field office or Public Tag Agent location
- Bring documentation proving:
- U.S. citizenship
- Louisiana residency
