The Louisiana State Cotillion organization will recognize the state’s most courteous educators during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5th -9th. This is the second year the program is being conducted.

“Teachers encounter both joyful and challenging experiences daily. The wide range of circumstances they undergo requires tremendous enthusiasm, patience, and diplomacy. Those who demonstrate outstanding courtesy and kindness while maintaining a disciplined classroom environment set positive examples for their students. They should be recognized for that,” said State Program Director, Beth Young.

Nominations will be accepted by students, parents, and colleagues, describing attributes the nominees possess that qualify them for the distinction. Personal stories are permitted and encouraged. Teachers nominated will be recognized among their school/school district. The teacher receiving the top entry from

each school will be named that school’s Most Courteous Teacher. A district or city winner will also be designated, if applicable. One outstanding teacher from among all entries will have the title of Louisiana’s Most Courteous Teacher bestowed upon them. Awards will also be given to those submitting

outstanding entries.

Nominees may be past teachers of the students but must be in an active teaching capacity. Entries must include the school and city where they currently teach, or where the student was taught. Up to three nominations per person are accepted.
