From Teacakes to Billboards

May 06, 2025 10:52AM ● By Lauren Pope

Royal Treats CEO Luke Parks, a recent graduate of Zachary High School, is gaining statewide attention after being featured in a new Crawfish Tales video spotlighting his entrepreneurial journey. The video, produced in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, tells the story of how a high school student with a passion for baking turned teacakes into a thriving business and it’s already making waves across the state.

Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Mike Strain launched the video and was so inspired by Luke’s story that he sponsored a billboard campaign to share it with even more Louisianans. The first billboard went live today in New Orleans, with more set to appear soon in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, and Shreveport.

Royal Treats began as a home-based operation, with Luke baking his grandmother’s signature teacake recipe and selling them at local pop-up events. Since then, the brand has expanded to offer frozen cookie dough and has captured the hearts and taste buds of the local community.

The Crawfish Tales video highlights not only Luke’s hustle and creativity, but also the broader movement to support young entrepreneurs across Louisiana. With this new visibility, Royal Treats is poised to continue its sweet rise while inspiring the next generation of local business leaders.
