Zachary High School to Host Community Presentation on Zachary Forward Initiative
Oct 09, 2025 11:38AM ● By Press Release
Zachary High School will host a community presentation on Thursday, October 28, at 6 p.m. in the ZHS Visual and Performing Arts Center (VPAC) to share information about the upcoming Zachary Forward initiative, which will appear on the ballot on November 15, 2025.
The event will inform parents, guardians, and community members about the proposal and its potential impact on the Zachary Community School District. District leaders will be available to answer questions and explain how the initiative supports employees, schools, and student programs—without increasing current tax rates.
What the Proposition Would Do
If approved, the measure would allow ZCSD to:
Attract and Keep the Best Staff – Competitive compensation will help recruit and retain top educators.
Utilize Current Technology – Updated technology will ensure students have the tools they need to learn effectively.
Address Facility Issues in a Timely Manner – Repairs and maintenance will be completed more efficiently to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
Why It’s Needed
When the Zachary Community School District was first established, the major need was for facilities. Since then, the district’s success has been built on the dedication of its educators, the strength of its academic programs, and the unwavering support of the community.
Today, ZCSD faces new challenges in maintaining its model of excellence. To proactively address these challenges, district leaders—with input from stakeholders, advisory groups, and the School Board—developed a proposition to continue collecting an existing property millage from bonds that are being paid off. These funds would then be rededicated to meet current needs such as staff compensation, technology upgrades, and facility maintenance.
Without this measure, there is no dedicated funding for these areas, which risks shifting resources away from other priority programs and lowering the district’s high standards.
Election Day: November 15
On November 15, voters will have the opportunity to authorize the reallocation of existing school tax funds for these critical needs—all without raising the tax rate.
