Wendy's Warriors

This October, the Bank of Zachary launched Wendy’s Warriors in memory of Central Branch Manager Wendy Folmar, celebrating her spirit through a monthlong breast cancer awareness campaign.
Wendy joined the Bank of Zachary on April 21, 2015, and was promoted to Central Branch Manager on September 10, 2019. She passed away on April 18, 2025, at age 48. The campaign grew from conversations Wendy, a breast cancer survivor, had begun with co-worker Alicia Chatman, whose mother also battled breast cancer, about creating a local awareness effort. After Wendy’s sudden passing, the bank decided to carry the idea forward as a tribute and a community service.
Across all branches in October, the bank set up tabletop displays with educational materials about prevention and screening, including instructions for self-exams and take-home resources. Branch visitors can pick up silicone wristbands, pens, and other awareness items. Each Friday the bank will spotlight a local breast-cancer survivor, presenting a small gift and flowers, and amplify that story on the bank’s social channels. Employees will also wear campaign shirts to visibly support the initiative.
Organizers describe Wendy’s Warriors as both a tribute and a practical outreach: an effort to keep prevention top of mind, connect neighbors with information and resources, and celebrate survivors while honoring Wendy’s spirit of service.
“Since my mom passed unexpectedly in April, the people at Bank of Zachary have shown my family a level of care and compassion that’s hard to put into words. They’ve now launched something that means the world to us, their first annual breast cancer awareness campaign, “Wendy’s Warriors – Waging War on Breast Cancer.” Seeing her and Alicia’s idea move forward in her name is a beautiful way to honor her legacy. This is what real culture looks like – a workplace where employees and their loved ones are treated like family.” Haylee Folmar, Wendy’s Daughter
“Wendy made a lasting impact on the Bank of Zachary and on everyone who had the privilege of working with her. Not only was she a dedicated leader and colleague, but also a cherished friend, mentor, and a vibrant presence within our institution. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering commitment to our customers and to the Central community will be profoundly missed for years to come. Her influence continues to be felt in the values she upheld and the relationships that she built. She left behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, and leadership. We were blessed to know her.” Brent Bradley, COO Bank of Zachary
