EBRP LIBRARY TO HOST INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS ON MILLAGE CONTINUATION PROPOSITION

Apr 21, 2026 01:41PM ● By Press Release
The East Baton Rouge Parish Library to host informational meetings on its Millage Continuation Proposition.

WHAT:
The East Baton Rouge Parish Library will launch a series of informational meetings on its Millage Continuation proposition beginning Thursday, April 23 at 2 p.m. at the Main Library at Goodwood. Library staff and members of the Library Board of Control will be available to answer questions. Additional meetings will be held at Library locations throughout the parish through June 17, offering residents opportunities to learn more about the proposition.

WHEN:
Thursday, April 23
2:00 p.m.

WHERE:
Main Library at Goodwood
7711 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA

DETAILS:
The Millage Continuation proposition continues the same funding approach voters have approved since 1986 and is designed to provide long-term stability for the Library system. The proposed rate is 9.5 mills, which is lower than the previous rates approved in 1995, 2005, and 2015. The plan keeps the Library’s funding dedicated solely to the Library, supporting all library services and operations, and restoring the Pay-As-You-Go Capital Improvements Plan. The election is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, with early voting beginning Saturday, June 13.
