In Zachary and across the Capital Region, the term “plant lady” means more than someone with a green thumb. It’s a nod to the women breaking barriers and building careers in Louisiana’s powerhouse industry: the plants. From refineries to chemical facilities, these women are engineers, operators, safety coordinators, and leaders—proving that grit, intelligence, and resilience look great in steel toes.

We interviewed 4 ladies who exemplify this leadership:
